Daniel W. Davies was born in Barking, London in 1977. He trained and taught at the D.R.A.M.A. Academy in Germany under the guidance of realist painter Dirk Dzimirsky, an early mentor whose influence continues to shape his practice. In 2022 he exhibited at the New Artists Fair in Whitechapel.

For the past decade Davies has worked from his studio in Thurrock and is currently relocating to a new workspace. His hyper-realistic black-and-white paintings probe the human condition in all its brutality and grace. Working primarily in monochrome, he captures a quiet intensity of his subjects caught between vulnerability and defiance—with meticulous attention to light, texture and psychological depth.

Influenced by late 19th-century painting and early 20th-century cinema, he believes an artist’s job is to create a world and invite the viewer in.

Davies is presently developing a new collection of 20–25 works that will be exhibited upon completion.
